Procedure

Stop Lord Willian Douglas patent to be Earle of March

The viscount of Teviott who in his patent of honour is by his Majestie designed Lord peebles Having represented to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councill That he Is Informed ther is a patent of honour now presently to pass the great seall In favoures of Lord William Douglas as Earle of March wherin he is Informed the said Lord William is Designed Lord Peebles which had been Granted by mistake seing he had the Compleat right to that title by his Majesties Grant so that noe other patent of that title should pass the sealls And therfore desyred that their Lordships would stopp Lord William Douglas his patent from passing the sealls untill his Majestie be acquainted The Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Having Considered the representation and Desyre of the Lord Viscount of Teviott They heirby Recommend to the Lord High Chancelor If such a Gift in favoures of Lord William Douglas wherin he is designed Lord Peebles Shall Come to the Great Seall That his Lordship stop the said gift and not affix the seall therto untill his Majestie be acquainted and his royall orders given theranent.
