Edinburgh seventh of Aprile Jaj vic nyntie seven years

Procedure

Anent a solemn fast

Mr Meldrum Mr Creichtoun and Mr Law Ministers at Edinburgh and the Laird of Lammingtoun as a ruling Elder did appear at the Councill barr as Commissionat by severall members of the Generall Assembly and represented that the present state of this Kingdome the abounding sins therof the season of the year and the hazard his majesties persone may be in in this years expedition wherin this nation and all Christendome is so much concerned Doe Call for humiliation by fasting and prayer And therfore Intreated the Lords of privie Councill to appoint a day of humiliation to be observed universalle throughout the whole Kingdome which the Councill Having Considered they appointed their Clerks to prepare a proclamation appointing a day of humiliation to be universally observed throughout the whole Kingdome from thrusday the tuenty seventh of May nixt And to present the same to the Councill against their nixt Meeting.
