Att Edinburgh the Threttie Day of November Jaj vic nyntie seven yeirs

Procedure: petition

Petition the inhabitants of Dwns remited to the Thesaurie

Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his majesties privie Counsell be James Liddell and Patrick Whillas and other inhabitants of the towne of Dwns Shewing That the severall troupes of The Lord Jedburgh now Lord Forbes regiment both officers and dragownes were were resting to the petitioners efter stateing of accompts with Leivetennent Collonell Brwce and major Burnet the Sowme of Ane Thowsand Seven Hundereth and Fowrtie one pund one Shilling Scotts for meat and drink fwrnished by the petitioners to the said regiment For payment wherof the said Leivtennent Collonell and major drew ane precept upon the depute receaver payable furth of the said regiments Subsistance for the moneths of March Aprile and May Last be eqwall portiones And accordingly payment was made of the first moyetie owt of March subsistance But when the petitioner came to desyre payment of the other two moneths The said depute receaver did produce a paper Subscribed by the said Leivtenent Collonell Brwce wherby he dischairges any furder payment be vertue of his former precept And accordingly the said receaver refwised to make payment of the saids other two moneths notwithstanding that he had entered in payment by paying of the first By which contriveance and collwsion betuixt the saids officers and receavers the petitioners have bein hitherto frwstrat of ther payment who have bein pwtt to Considerable expensses in attendance at Edinburgh and els wher and makeing applicatione for recoverie therof near to the value of ane third pairt therof And therfore humbly craveing ther Lordships to take the premisses to consideratione and to advance the generall receavers and ther deputs to make payment to the petitioners of the saids two moneths moyety being Eleven hundereth fiftie seven pwnd Sixteen Shilling Scotts yet resting by the said regiment conforme to the said precept As the said petitione bears Which petitione being this day and considered be the saids Lords of privie Cownsell They hereby remit the same to the Lords Commissioners of his majesties Thesaurie to be considered and determined by ther Lordships as they shall find Jwst And in the mean tyme allowes the officers of the Lord Jedburgh therefter the Lord Forbes his regiment to sie and answer the same
