Act Infavours of Sir Ewen Cameron of Lochiel

Anent the petition given in and presented to the Lords of Her Majesties Privie Councill By Sir Ewen Cameron of Lochiel Shewing That where by the order of the Committee of privie Councill appointed for inquireing into the late plot carried on by Captain Simon Fraser and others. The petitioner was taken into Custody and imprisoned in the Garrison of Fort William as suspect of being engaged in the said plott, And all His papers was then seased and secured by vertue of the said order. And seeing that Dureing these four of five moneths of his confinment there hes nothing appeared against him, nor any wryt or paper found by him any way relating to the said plot or any evill practice whatsomever against the Government, And that I am content to find sufficient Bail in the termes of Law. As the said petition Bears. The Lords of Her Majesties privie Councill, Haveing considered the above petition given into them By Sir Ewen Cameron of Lochzeill, And the samen being read in there presence, The saids Lords Doe hereby appoint and ordaine The petitioner to be sett at liberty furth of the Garrison of Fort William upon his giveing Bond and finding sufficient Caution acted in the books of Privie Councill for his appearance before the Councill when called, And in the mean tyme that he shall live peaceablie under and with all submission to Her Majesties Government, And that he shall not converse nor correspond with any of Her Majesties Rebells, nor contrive any thing to the prejudice therof under the penalty of Three thousand merks scots money, And gives warrand and order to Brigadier Maitland to sett him at liberty furth therof, upon his giveing Bond and finding sufficient Caution as said is.
