Letter from The Queen To The Councill anent Recruits etc

Letter from the Queens Majestie to the Councill anent makeing up the Levies and Recruits Being read the samen was appointed To be Recorded and a warrand to be Extended in the termes therof and as in the lyke caices upon former Letters of that nature Wherof the tennor followes

Right trusty and Right weell beloved Cousin and Councellour Right trusty and Enteirly beloved Cousins and Councellours Right trusty and weell beloved Cousins and Councellors Right trusty and weell beloved Councellors and trusty and weell beloved Councellors We greet yow weell Wheras there are severall men wanting to recruit the Scotts Regiments now in the service of our allies the states Generall and it being the honour of that our ancient Kingdome and for the good of our service that the saids Recruits be made there, and as speedily as can be To which end there are officers ordered from the severall Battallions to repair thither It is Therfor our will and pleasure that yow give these officers (upon their application) all due Encurradgement and assistance By alloweing them to beat drumbs and take such other methods as are usuall on such occasion’s allwayes keeping them within the bounds that Law prescribes And we Recommend to yow a due and temper in this matter by giving speciall orders for preventing any abuses in makeing the saids Levies Soe we bid yow heartily fairwell Given at our Court Att our Court2 at St James’s the 9th day of March 1703/4 and of our Rigne the Thrid year By Her Majesties Command Sic Subscribitur Queensberry.
