Committee for Considering The provost of Drumfreis Letter and protest and For bringing into the Councill a proclamation anent preists

The Lord Advocat Haveing represented to the Councill That his Lordship had receaved a Letter from the provest and Two of the Baillies of Dumfreis giveing account That there was a great Convocatione of the Leidges in a warlyke manner upon the second off February Instant who marched into the Toun of Dumfreis wher they brunt2 at the Cross a Considerable number off popish Books, Images etc And the samen togither with ane Instrument and protest taken by the provest off Dumfreis Againest James Afflect of Adamghame, and John McJore, of Kirkland, who Commanded the said bodey of men assembled as said is Being all read In presence off the Lords of Her Majesties privie Councill The saids Lords Doe heirby Nominat and Appoint, The Earles of Lauderdale, Northesk, and Glasgow, Lords president of Session Advocat, Aberuchill, Phesdo, Tillecultrie, Mr Francis Montgomrie and Stevensone To be a Committee to consider the said Letter and protest and to Report to the Councill thereanent nixt Councill day And Recommends to the said Committee To meet this Afternoon at Five a Clock and Declaires any Three aquorum And Lyke wayes Recommends to them To prepair and bring into the Councill nixt Councill Day annent preists and Trafecquing papists.
