Warrant
Warrant to the Magistrats of Edinburgh for burning popish vestments Crucifixes etc
Sir James Steuart Her Majesties Advocat Haveing Represented to the Councill That there were seaverall popish vestments, Trinkets and others seized And that they wer given into his Lordship and in his Custodie The Lords of Her Majesties privy Councill Doe heirby Appoint and ordaine The vestments Crusifixes and Trinkets To be brunt at the Cross of Edinburgh to morrow being the Fyfteen instant Betuixt the hours of Ten and Tuelf of the Clock in he foirnoon And appoints and ordains The Magistrats of Edinburgh to see the samen effectwally done And appoints and ordaines The Chalice pattine and such other of the said Trinketts as are in silver or Gold To be melted doun and delyvered to the present Kirk Theasourer of Edinburgh for the use of the poor thereof allenerly.
