Act

Act appointing Ministers etc to take the oath of alledgance and assurance

Act appointing Ministers; preachers of the Gospell and others aftermentioned to Swear the Oath of alledgance and subscribe the Same with the assurance conforme to the act of parliament Being Read was voted approven and ordained to be published and recorded, wherof the tenor followes.
The Lords of her Majesties privy Councill takeing to their Consideration; That in the two proclamationes emitted by their Lordships, Since the death of King William of ever Glorious Memory, In pursuance of the act of parliament Jaj vic Nyntie thrie; Entituled act for takeing the oath of alledgance and assurance; Ther is no Speciall provision made As was made in the proclamation Issued out upon the Same act the Threttie of may the said year Jaj vic Nyntie thrie Before whom and betwixt and what day Ministers, preachers of the Gospell and the other persones aftermentioned Ought to Swear the oath of alledgance and Subscribe the Same with the assurance to her Majestie Queen Anne as is now appointed by the act of the Last Session of the Last parliament; Entituled act Recognizeing her Majesties Royall power and authority etc, And that it is fitt that the Same be Supplied; Doe Therfore be vertue and Warrand of the said act of the Last Session of the Last parliament Recognizeing her Majesties Royall power and authority as said is. And the power therby to them Committed; Appoint and ordaine all Ministers preachers of the Gospell; and all Clerks of Church Judicatures and presenters and all masters and Doctors of universities Colleges or Schoolls; and keepers of publict Liberaries and all Chaplains in families and pedagogues and Governors to Childrein or youth; to swear2 the said oath of alledgance and Subscrybe the Same with the assurance to her Majestie before either the Shirriff of the bounds or their deputs wher they Live or the Magistrates of any burgh Royall within the saids bounds or any of the Lords of privy Councill as may be most easie and convenient for them betwixt the first day of December nixt to come; Under the Certificationes allwayes contained in the forsaid act of parliament Jaj vic Nyntie thrie incaice of their faillie; and that the said Shirriffs and their deputs and Magistrats of burghs and privy Councillors abovementioned Report a Sufficient Certificat of the saids persones their Swearing and Subscrybeing to the Clerks of privy Councill betwixt and the first day of February3 therafter as they will be answerable on their perill; And in respect that their is no report yet made of any of the Saids ministers, preachers and others their haveing Sworne the forsaid alledgance and Subscrybed the Same with the assurance by vertue of aither of the two Last proclamationes for that effect, Therfore The Lords of her Majesties privy Councill, Ordaines them all to obtempor and obey this ordinance by Swearing and Subscrybeing as said is; Whither they have Sworne and Subscrybed otherwayes or not; before the emitting hereof; and under the forsaid Certification as above and Ordaines these presents to be printed and published at the marcat cross of Edinburgh and all other places needfull Sic Subscribitur.
