Recommendation to Generall Major Ramsay anent the Forces in the termes of his Majesties Letter
The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill in obedience to a letter under his Majesties Royall hand direct to them of the date the thrid day of February Current wherin his Majestie finding it necessary to Imploy some of the Troops foott and dragoons, presently within this kingdome in his Service abroad Doe Therfore Recommend to and ordaine Generall Major George Ramsay Commander in Chief of his Majesties forces within this kingdome to give all Necessary orders to the officers of the Regiment of Dragoons under the Command of the Viscount of Teviot That they with the said regiment march into England with all expedition wher as soon as they arryve they are to enter into English pay And that the said Regiment be reduced to Six troops and Fiftie four men in each troop; And that thenecessary orders be given by the said Major Generall for incorporating the two Supernumerary troops to the remaineing Six; and what then wants of the Complement of Fiftie four privat men in each troop; The saids Lords appoints the said Major Generall to cause the Samen be made up by new Levies for which officers are to be2 left behind who are to goe about the same as soon as the Regiment is in England; And it is his majesties pleasure That the officers of the Supernumerarie troops who are to be incorporated into the other Six and who are to be named both Captains and Subalternes by the Viscount of Teviot Doe continue in his Majesties Service and make up their troops with all dilligence to the number Contained in the present Establishment and be a part of the Said regiment; As also the Saids Lords Recommend to and give order to the said Commander in Cheif of his Majesties forces to give the requisit and Necessary orders to the officers of the Regiments of foot Commanded by Collonell Row and Collonell Ferguson Conforme to their Complement upon the present Establishment (Excepting the two Companies in the Highlands which are to continue as formerly) to be in readiness to Imbarque as Soon as the transport Shipps for carieing them into Holland can be gott ready; For which the necessary orders Shall be given And which Regiments are to enter upon English pay from the day of her Imbarquation and Because his Majestie hath thought fitt that the saids two Regiments Should be Augmented to the number of Twentie Companies each regiment and of Sixtie men each Company Therfore the saids Lords appoints the Said Major Generall to take care that the officers be left behind who with these to be named by his majestie for the additionall Companies shall as Soon as the Said Regiments are Imbarqued and not before use all possible dilligence for makeing up the said Complement For which they Shall have all due incouradgment And his Majestie will take care That the officers both of foot and Dragoones for makeing these Levies be furnished from England with the Necessary Levie money.
