Letter from the Queen for Adjurning the parliament to the 26 May nixt

Letter from the Queen to the Councill for adjourning the parliament Being Read was ordered to be recorded and ordained their Clerks to prepair a proclamation in the termes therof again the nixt Sederunt off the Which Letter the tenor followes.

Right trusty and Right well beloved Cousin and Councillor; Right trusty and intirely beloved Cousins and Councillors; Right trusty and Right well beloved Cousins and Councillors. Right trusty and well beloved Cousins and Councillors; Right trusty and well beloved Councillors; And trusty and well beloved Councillors Wee Greet yow well Wheras Wee have hade under our Consideration the 17th act of the 6th Session of our Current parliament Wherby it is provided; That in caice the parliament Should be under Adjournment at the time of the death of his late Majestie of blessed Memory That the Same Shall not be disolved by his death; But meett within twenty dayes therafter and continue to Sitt And act for Six moneths; Unless sooner adjourned or disolved by the nixt Immediat Successor according to the declaration of the Estates dated the Eleventh of Aprill 1689 And the undoubted right to the Imperiall Crown of that our Ancient kingdom being now conforme to the Said Declaration of Estates Devolved upon Us, And wee haveing Likewayes assumed the Exercise of the Regall power, are fully Resolved that our said parliament Shall meett as Soon as is possible, being that wee repose intire trust and confidence in their Loyaltie to Us; And of their Zeall and affection to the present Constitution of the Government of which they have given So large and frequent proofs in the reigne of our deceast Royall brother. And wee being now at our first accession to the Government of these kingdomes ingaged in many Important and weighty affairs Cannot possibly adjust in So Short a time all that is necessary, Wee have therfore thought fitt to Signifie to yow That it is our will and pleasure And wee hereby Authorize and Requyre yow in our name and by our authority to Issue furth a proclamation adjourning our Current parliament from the time appointed by the forsaid act; And also from the Fourteinth day of Aprile nixt to which it wes Last adjourned, And Ordering our said parliament to meet on the Twentie Sixth day of May nixt; And that all the members attend that day at Edinburgh in the usual lway and upon the accustumed Certifications, And yow are to intimat to all our Subjects That Wee are firmly Resolved our parliament Shall meett on the Said Twenty Sixth day of May nixt without any furder delay; For doing of all which This Shall be your warrant; And so wee bid yow heartily farewell, Given at our Court at St James’s the 19th day of March 1701/2 and of our Reign the first year. By her Majesties Command Sic Subscribitur Seafeild.
