Letter from the Queen to the Councill Anent New Levies and Armes .

Letter from the Queen to the Councill Anent the New Levies and armes2 Read and ordered to be Recorded wherof the tenor follows

Right trusty and right well beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trustie and intirely beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trusty and right well beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trusty and well beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trusty and well beloved Councillors And trustie and well beloved Councillors; Wee greet yow well; Wheras Wee have granted Commissiones for raising a regiment of Dragoons and two regiments of foott in place of these Sent into Holland; And it being necessary for our Service that the Saids regiments be Levied with all Expedition, It is therfore our will and pleasure That yow give all due encouragment to the Collonells and officers for makeing up their severall Complements By allowing them to beat Drums or to take any other Method that may be effectuall, The Same being consistant with Law; And yow are to cause provide them with armes out of our Magazines; Yow are also to give orders for modelling the two troops of the Viscount of Teviots 3 Dragoons that were left into one troop To be designed in time comeing our troop of Grenadeer4 Gaurds; Wee have granted Commissiones to the Severall officers for Commanding the Same; And yow are to give orders for takeing one man out of each Company of Brigadeer Maitlands regiment and for delyvering them with their armes to the Government of the Castle of Edinburgh, Wee haveing thought fitt for our Service to Augment the Number of that Garison; For doeing of all which this Shall be your Warrant So wee bid yow heartily farewell Given at our Court at St James’s the 15th day of May 1702 and of our reign the first year. By her Majesties Command Sic Subscribitur Seafeild
