Procedure
Commission In favors of Robert Ballantyne to be a macer of Parliament; privy Councill and Exchequer etc
Commission under her Majesties privy Seall of this kingdome In favors of Robert Ballantyne wryter in Edinburgh to be one of the ordinary macers before the privy Councill, Read and ordered to be Recorded; And the Said Robert Ballantyne being called in Did Swear the Oath of Alledgance and Subscrybed the Same with the assurance; And the Lord Chancelor did tender to him the oath de fideli and he was admitted accordingly
Followed the Commission.
Anne by the Grace of God Queen of Great Brittaine France and Ireland defender of the faith Forasmuchas Wee being informed That ther is a place of one of the ordinary macers before the parliament privy Councill and Exchequer vacant in our hands and at our Royall Gift and disposition Throw the decease of George Gordon lately one of the Saids Macers, And Wee takeing to our Royall Consideration the Loyaltie and other good qualifications of Robert Ballantyne wryter in Edinburgh; Whereby he is well qualified for the true and faith full discharge of the place and office of one of the said ordinary macers before the parliament privy Councill and Exchequer Therfore Witt yee us to have Nominat Constitute and appointed; Likeas Wee with advice and consent of the Lords and others Commissioners of our Thesaury and Exchequer of our Said Kingdome by these presents; Nominat Constitute and Appoint the said Robert Ballantyne to be one of the ordinary Macers before the parliament privy Councill Exchequer and Commissiones and also a Serjand at armes Dureing all the dayes of his lifetime; Giveing Granting and Disponing to him the saids offices with all fies profitts duties priviledges and Casualities whatsomever therinto belonging; and Speciallie the fie and Sallary of Fiftie pounds Sterling money money2 yearly as the fie and Sallarie of one of the saids Macers to be payed to him at two termes in the year Whitsunday and Martinmass be equall portiones begining the first termes payment therof at Martinmass nixt to come And so to Continue yearly and termly therafter dureing the Space forsaid Commanding hereby the Lords Commissioners of our Thesaury and all3 Collectors and receivers of our rents Revenues Customes and other Casualities whatsomever of our said kingdome present or for the time being to make payment of the same accordingly; and also Commanding the Lords of our privy Councill Exchequer and Commission to Admitt and receive the said Robert Ballantyne to the exercise of the said office and to take his oath de fideli administratione in Such caices accustomed And to Authorize him with their testimoniall of Admission therto in due and Compitent forme as effeirs Given under our privy Seall at our Court at St James’s The i2th day of May 1702 and of our reigne the first year. Wryten to the privy Seall and Registrat the first day of May 1702 Sic Subscribitur James Douglas Sealled att Edinburgh the first July 1702 by Speciall order till the Sealls be renewed Sic Subscribitur William Johnston.
