Procedure
The Councillors present, qualifie themselves, and took the Oath de fideli
The Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Considering That her Majestie Queen Anne had assumed the Government by Signeing the Coronation Oath, Reported to the Councill and by them appointed to be Recorded; The saids Lords Judged is fitt and necessary for them; Being now Authorized to sitt and act as her Majesties privy Councill (2Be vertue of her Letter for that effect to qualifie themselves by takeing the oath of alledgance and assurance and the oath de fideli; And Therfore the saids Lords of her Majesties privy Councill; By five and fyve as they were present Did Swear the Oath of alledgance to her Majestie and the oath de fideli and Subscrybed the assurance, The Clerk Reading the words of the Oath of alledgance to them And the Chancelor administrating the oath defideli Which oath of alledgance and assurance was Subscrybed by the whole Members present Except the Lord Ross and the Laird of Grant who declyned to Swear the oath of alledgance or Signe the assurance untill first her Majestie were proclaimed Queen of this realme
