Protection To Mr Alexander Cockburn
Anent The Petition Given in to the Lords of his majesties privy Councill By Mr Alexander Cockburn Clerk to the Regality of Preston Shewing That where he being cited To appear before their Lordships upon the Thirteenth of June Instant by vertue of Letters raised upon the mutuall Complaints depending before their Lordships Betwixt James White Commissar Clerk of Lauder and George Turnbull Bailie of the Regality of Bruele and Preston He hes in obedience thereto come to Edinburgh But by reason of some diligences by Caption against him is not in tuto To appear without their Lordships protection. And Therfore Humbly craving To the Effect underwrittin as the said petition Bears. The Saids Lords of his majesties privy Councill, Having considered this petition given in to them by the above Mr Alexander Cockburn, They heirby grant personal protection To the Petitioner untill the Twenty Seventh of June Instant Inclusive for attending the above process, And heirby discharges all macers messengers att arms or officers within Burgh or Landward, To putt any Letters of Caption acts of warding or other personall diligence in Execution against the said Petitioner untill the said day, Excepting allways his majesties Rents and publict Dues.
