Act Taking off Mr John Heburnes Confynement

Anent The Petition given in To the Lords of his majesties privy Councill By Mr John Hepburn minister of the Gospell. Shewing That their Petitioner having been set at Liberty from the Castle of Stirling To attend his Brother under ane heavy Indisposition, was Confned to Edinburgh upon his Brothers Granting Bond, That he should Keep his said Confinement, And it being notourly Knowen, That their petitioner was never a Disturber of the publick peace nor in the Least Inclined to doe so, But on the Contrary, Judge it his duty to Wish all happiness To his majesties person and Government nevertheless he hes been detained heir at Edinburgh under the said Confynement near these Two years bypast which cannot but be very burdensome unto him on many accounts. And Therfore Humbly craving to the Effect underwritten as the said petition Bears. The Saids Lords of his majesties privy Councill Having Considered this Petition given in to them be the within Mr John Hepburne with ane Testificate under the hand of of2 Mr John Ballinton Clerk to the Generall Assembly Bearing that the Assembly hes taken off the Suspension of the petitioner, The saids Lords doe heirby take off the sentence of Confynement pronunced by them against the said Mr John Hepburn and declairs him quite thereof and free therefrae in all tyme coming, And ordains The Bond Granted be Patrick Hepburn The petitioners Brother for the petitioners Keeping his Confynement and Returning to Stirling Castle or appearance when called, Containing the penalty of Two Thousand merks dated the nynth day of December Jaj vic nynty and six years to be given up to the said Patrick Hepburn upon his Receit, And declares the said petitioner to be at Liberty to goe about his affairs as any other of his majesties Leidges.
