Act For putting the proclamatione against Regraters and Fore-Stallers of victuall in Execution
The Lords of his majesties privy Councill Considering that albeit By their proclamation of the date the Fifteenth day of november last The Sheriffs of the Severall Shires Stewarts of Stewartries Lords and Bailies of Regalities and their Deputs magistrats of Burghs as Likeways all Commissioners of Supply and Justices of peace are Strictly appointed and Enjoined to cause Enquire and search who holds up Victuall in Girnells or other ways Contrair to the Law, and does not bring and Expose the same to sale in open and ordinary mercats at the ordinary price in the Countrey, yet the forsaid proclamation hath not been put to punctuall and Exact Execution Through neglect or default of the Magistrats abovementioned Therfore the Lords of his majesties privy Councill Doe heirby Strictly Require and Command the hail Magistrats abovementioned To put the forsaid proclamation to Exact and present Execution And give all Care and diligence To discover who Regrates and Keeps up victuall Contrair to the acts of parliament and proclamation of Councill forsaid, And to cause such persons who Keeps up the same illegally, to Expose the Same to Sale immediatly in the open mercats at the ordinary price in the Countrey And to Execute the Law upon the Transgressors with all rigor And to Report their Diligence in the premises to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill betwixt and the Twenty day of aprile next to Come with Certification if they failzie, They shall be Conveened before the Lords of his majesties privy Councill For their negligence and punished with the outmost rigor of Law for the same.
