Letter from the King to the Council For receaveing The Lord Strathnavers and Colonell Fergusones Regiments into Pay

The Letter underwrittin from his majestie To the privy Councill Being read, was ordered to be Recorded. Whereof the tenor follows
Sic supra Scribitur. William Rex
Right Trusty and right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor, Right Trusty and Entirely beloved Cousin and Councellor, Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and trusty and welbeloved Councellors, We greet yow well. Whereas Wee have ordered the Regiments of foot commanded by the Lord Strathnaver and Collonell Ferguson, to be transported from Holland to that our Kingdom; And we being resolved that they shall be Established there, And the funds not being Sufficient for mantaining all the Forces which are already Established and likewise these two Regiments. It is therfore our Will and pleasure, That yow furthwith give orders for disbanding and Reducing in manner aftermentioned, Viz: from our Troop of guards, Fourteen Gentlemen, and the Surgeon, from each Troop of our Two Regiments of Dragoones, Five men, And from the saids Two Regiments, Twelve Quarter masters, Two Aid Majors and Two Surgeons, with their Mates from Each Company of our Regiment of foot Guards, fifteen Sentinells And from the said Regiment Two quartermasters, The Surgeon and Mate, The Drum Major and Sixteen Drums from each of the Regiments of foot, commanded by Major Generall Colzier, Colonel Row, or Colonel Hamilton, The Two youngest Companys with the youngest officers; And from the saids Three Regiments, The Three surgeons and their mates, As also from Each company of the saids Three Regiments, And from Each Company of the Regiment commanded by Brigadier Maitland, Five men, And from these four Regiments, Four quarter masters and four Drum majors, yow are also To Reduce the Garrison of Blackness Castle, Except the Governour who is to Continue: Which Castle is to be Keeped by detachments from our foot Regiments to be appointed by our Commander in cheiff, for the time, untill our further orders And these detachments to be commanded by the said Governour And we heirby appoint the saids Two Regiments, commanded by the Lord Strathnaver and Colonel Ferguson, Each consisting of Ten Companys and Thirty Centinells in each company with the other Reductiones abovementioned, To be upon the Establishment of that our Kingdom, from the time of their Arrivall there And yow are to take care that the armes of those that are to be disbanded, Be Secured and laid up in our Magazines For doing of all which This shall be your Warrant, And so we bid yow heartily farewell.
