Order
Order and act To Colonell Row to Suppress the Tumult at St Andrews anent Breaking Girnells
The Lords of his majesties privy Councill being Informed That there hath happened Some Tumult and disorder about the brakeing up of Girnells and Seasing upon victuall at St Andrews Doe Therfore Require and command Collonell Archibald Row upon receit heirof or in his absence the next commanding officer of his Regiment lying at Kirkaldy and places Adjacent Immediately to Command Fifty men of the said Regiment with a Captain and other Inferior officers To command them to march to St Andrews and take up there quarters their For giving assisstance to the magistrats of the said Burgh To Suppress the saids Tumults and disorders and Keep the peace of the place and likeways to concurr and give assistance to them as they shall be required by the saids magistrats In apprehending and comitting to custody the cheiff and ring Leaders of such Tumults and disorders.
