Act Anent the Earle of Seaforth

Anent The Petition given in To the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill By Kenneth Earle of Seaforth. Shewing That where The petitioners Extream Indisposition of Body, and the Tempestuousness of the winter season, occasioned his not appearance before ther Lordships, the fourth of January Last Conforme to the citations given to the petitioner and his Cautioners. The Displeasure The petitioner understood ther Lordships took, did add much to his Trouble, But The Goodness of God having a Litle abated his Indisposition he hes now with no small hazard of his Life gott through a most Long and uneasy Journey, and that with all the Expedition That Travelling in a Chair in Such Stormy weather could allow. And seing The Petitioner is hopefull To satisfie ther Lordships as to his Innocence as to what is charged upon him by the Complaints Exhibite against him and that nothing is Extracted as yet that may preclude him, And Therfore Humbly Entreating Ther Lordships, To accept of this his appearance which he is now ready to make, and which was all possible for him And to appoint such a day as ther Lordships shall think fitt for his giving In his answers to the said Complaints wherin he hopes he shall fully satisfie ther Lordships as to all he is charged with as the said petition Bears. The saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councill having Considered the above petition given in to them be the above Earle of Seaforth. They heirby allow all privat parties To see and answer the same till the next Councill day. And appoints The petitioner to Attend and Sist himself att the Councill Barr that day To answer to what the Lord Advocate hes to lay to his Charge upon the publict accompt.
