Att Edinburgh The Fourteenth of June Jaj vjc nynty Eight years

Act in favours of Mr James Adamsone

Anent The Petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill By Mr James Adamson Late minister att Keltone Shewing That where their petitioner having been Conveened before their Lordships for marrieing Baptizing and preaching in a meeting-house at Eymouth, Their Lordships upon The Petitioners Ingenous acknowledgement were pleased to Banish him out of his Majesties Dominions and to Enter his Banishment betwixt and the Tenth of June Instant And further Discharged him to preach baptize marry or Exerce any part of the ministerial function Till the Petitioner Entered his Banishment And seing Their Petitioners own Ingenous acknowledgement and Confession was the only probation upon which their Lordships Interloquitor proceeded, And That his Banishment furth of his Majesties Dominions will render their Petitioner and his wife and numerous family of Children incapabe of subsisting in any other Kingdom, And That their Petitioner hath given Evidence of his affection to the Government by praying for his Majesty which many of his auditors are ready to assert And Lastly seing he is the only person who hes mett with such a Censure as to be banished his Majesties Dominions for ane single act of marrying one of his own Brethren and have never been guilty of marrying any other person whatsomever since the act of parliament And Therfore Humbly craving their Lordships To take pity and Compassion on him and his family And to take of the said act of Banishment Least he his wife and Children be Reduced to straits and misery by their Lordships former sentence as the said Petition Bears. The saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Having Considered this petition given in to them by the above Mr James Adamson They heirby Restrict the within sentence of Banishment To the Bounds of any place within the shire of Berwick And declares The former sentence Null as to any Bounds without the said shire And decernes and ordains The said Petitioner before Extracting heirof To Enact himself in the Books of his Majesties privy Councill That he shall Retire furth of the said shire of Berwick Betwixt and […] and that he shall not Return to nor Resort within the same at any tyme Coming And That he shall not preach baptize marry nor Exercise any pairt of his ministeriall function within this Kingdom without his Majesties or the Councills warrant for that Effect.
