Act Liberating Mr William Wilson
Anent The petition given in to the Lords of his majesties privy Councill By Mr William Wilson Late Minister at Couper in Fife. Shewing That where having been seased Imprisoned and Conveened before their Lordships, for celebrating clandestine mariadges Ingenously confessed his guilt in that matter, And their Lordships have been Eye witnesses of his old age poverty and distress utterly unable To Bear Banishment. They were pleased in moderation thereof only to Remand him to prison till furder order. And Seeing That now first and Last he hes suffered no Less then Eleven moneths Imprisonment, And That he is truly reduced To that misery through old age and poverty, That death wold in some sort prove a releiff. And That he hes promised seriously to their Lordships, and is Ready to Enact himself under all highest pains That he shall not for hereafter Committ the Like transgression And Therfore Humbly Craving To the Effect underwrittin as the said petition Bears. The saids Lords of his majesties privy Councill, Having Considered this Petition given in to them by Mr William Wilson, They heirby give order and warrant to the magistrats of Edinburgh, and Keeper of their Tolbooth, To set the petitioner at Liberty furth thereof, In Respect he hes Enacted himself in the Books of his majesties privy Councill That he shall not preach, baptize, marry, nor Exercise any other pairt of his ministerial function within this Kingdom untill he be qualified according to Law, under the penalty of Five hundered merks Scots money in caice of transgression of any pairt of the premises.
