Letter from the King to the Councill for disbanding Colonell Hill’s Regiment

The Letter underwritten from his Majesty to the privy Councill Being Read was ordered to be Recorded wherof the Tenor follows:
Sic suprascribitur William Rex
Right trusty and Right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor Right trusty and Entirely beloved Cousin and Councellor, Right Trusty and Right welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, wee greet yow well, Whereas wee have thought fitt To nominate Brigadier Maitland Governour of Fort-Wiliam And to appoint his Regiment to be the Garrison thereof, Therfore how soon he and his Regiment are arrived, yow are to give them orders with all Convenient Diligence to march to the forsaid fort. And yow are also to order upon his Coming there, The Regiment Commanded be Collonel Hill to be Disbanded; And their Armes artillery ammunitions, And what Else in the said Garrison, doth propperly Belong to us, to be delivered up to The said Brigadier Maitland, for which he is to be answerable And yow are Likeways To Recommend to the Lords of our Thesaury To cause make payment to them of ther full Pay to the tyme of disbanding with Eight days allowance to the Private Centinells for carrieing them to ther Respective homes. For doing wherof This shall be to yow and the Lords of our Thesaury a Sufficient warrant. So wee bid yow heartily farewell. Given att our Court at Kensingtoun The first day of February 1697/8 and of out Reign the 9th year. By his Majesties sic subscribitur James Ogilvie.
