[Proclamation for adjourning the Parliament]
The Letter abovewrittin from his Majestie being Read The proclamation after Insert being instantly prepared was signed and ordered to be recorded whereof the Tenor follows. William By the grace of God King of great Brittan France and Ireland defender of the faith To our Lyon King att armes and his Brethren heraulds macers of our privy Councill messengers att armes our sheriffs in that part Conjunctlie and Severallie specialy constitute Greeting: Forasmuchas wee by our proclamation of the date The Third day of March last bypast Did Adjourn this our Current Parliament To the Twenty Eight day of June instant: And wheras The present state of our affairs does not Require the meeting of our said Parliament so soon as the day to which it was adjourned. Therfore wee with Advice of the Lords of our privy Councill are Resolved to Continue the said Adjournment from the said Twenty Eight day of June Instant To the Twelfth day of July next to Come att which tyme wee are fully Resolved our said Parliament shall meet. And That the members of our said Current Parliament be not putt to unnecessary troubles and Charges wee doe heirby with advice forsaid Continue the Adjournment of our said Parliament from the said Twenty Eight day of June Instant To the said Twelfth day of July next to Come. And wee doe heirby order and Require all the members of our said Parliament to attend The said Twelfth day of July next to Come att Edinburgh in the usual way and under the Certificationes Contained in the severall acts of Parliament made thereanent. Our Will is Heirfore and wee charge yow Straitly and Command That Incontinent these our Letters seen ye pass To the mercat Cross of Edinburgh and to the mercat Crosses of the Remanent head burghs of the several shires, and Stewartries of this our ancient Kingdom and there by open proclamation make Intimation that our said parliament is adjourned to the said Twelfth day of July next to Come, And ordains these presents to be printed Given under our Signet att Edinburgh The seventh day of June and of our Reign the Tenth year 1698 sic subscribitur.
