Letter from the King for adjourning the Parliament
The Letter underwrittin from his Majesty being Read, was ordered to be recorded whereof the Tenor follows
Sic suprascribitur William Rex
Right trusty and right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor. Right trusty and Entirely beloved Cousin and Councellour, Right trusty and Right well-beloved Cousins and Councellours. Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellours. Right trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and trusty and welbeloved Councellours. Wee greet yow well. Wheras the present state of our affairs does not allow the meeting of our Parliament so soon as the Twenty Eight day of June to which it is now adjourned It is therfore our will and pleasure and wee heirby authorise and Require yow to Issue forth a new Proclamation in our name ordering the Continuance of the said Adjournment from the said Twenty Eight day of June to the Twelfth day of July therafter att which tyme wee are fully resolved our said Parliament shall meet, And Therfore ordaining all the members thereof to attend that day att Edinburgh in the usual way and upon the accustomed Certifications. For doing whereof this shall be your warrant. So wee bid yow heartily farewell. Given at our Court at Kensington the 18th day of May 1698 and of our Reign the Tenth year. By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur James Ogilvie.
