Att Edinburgh The Fifteenth day of February Jaj vjc nynty Eight years

Committee Anent French Trade

The Lords of his majesties privy Councill having heard a Representation from Sir Archibald Mure Lord provost of Edinburgh That the Royall Burrows att ther Last meeting hade left it upon him to call them again how soon he should be advised of any meeting at London upon a Treaty of Commerce for Regulating trade with France and That he having written thereanent to both secretaries was acquainted by Them That his Majestie would name the Commissioners To be Imployed for manageing that treaty wherupon The said Lord Provost hade appointed a meeting of the Burrows upon the first of March. The saids Lords Recommends to the Lord Chancelor to write to the secretarie in waiting to Know his Majesties pleasure anent what method should be taken by ther Lordships and the Burrows for representing the infractions made upon our trade and priviledges with France since the year Jaj vic sixty and what Course shall be Insisted in, for Remeid thereof. And They heirby Nominate and appoint the Marquess of Tweddale The Earles of Lauderdale Leven Annandale and Ruglen Viscount of Tarbat The Lords Advocate and Justice-Clerk The said Provost of Edinburgh The Lairds of Pollock and Kelburn and Sir Patrick Murray to be a Committee for Considering of the points Relating to the Commerce and Traficque of this Kingdom with the Kingdom of France And what Innovations or Restrictions hes bein made thereupon Since the said year Jaj vic sixty, and how the Samen may be Redressed for the future, with power to the said Committie To call for such merchants as they shall Think fitt, and To treat and Converse with them upon the head And Declares any five of the said Committee to meet the morrow att Ten acklock in the forenoon and therafter from tyme to tyme and make their Report To the Councill with ther Conveniencie.
