Att Edinburgh the nynth day of November Jaj vic Nyntie Eight

Act In favors of the magistrats of Aberdeen

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill be the Magistrats of Aberdeen Shewing That wher the petitioners being cited upon a most Calumnious Lybell at the instance of George Leith of Overhall to appear before the saids Lords for their alleadged neglect accession or Connivance anent the escape of James Gordon brother to the Laird of Arradowell out of their prisone who was incarcerat for severall highneous crymes, and that it being inconvenient for the whole Magistrats to appear and answer to the Citation, And Therfore Humbly Supplicating to the effect aftermentioned, The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered this petition given in to them be the Magistrats of Aberdeen, They hereby Allow any two of the saids magistrats To Compear in name of the whole Councill and Declares ther Compearance Sufficient for all the rest both as defenders in the above wryten process and also as pursuers in the reconventione therof raised at the townes instance, The two Magistrats who shall Compear being all wayes Lyable for the haill toune Councill in both processes.
