Letter from the King for disbanding Two Troops of the Lord Jedburghs Regiment
A Letter from his Majestie To the privy Councill for disbanding Two Troops of the Lord Jedburghs Regiment Read and ordered to be Recorded. This Letter as is Informed hes already Receaved obedience per order of Councill of the date the Third day of march 1698 which was delivered to John Aitkine and upon which the Two Troops in the Letter are disbanded. follows the tenor of the Letter.

Right Trusty and Right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor Right trusty and Entirely beloved Cousin and Councellor, Right trusty and right welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right Trusty and welbeloved Councellors and Trusty and welbeloved Councellors: Wee greet yow well It is our will and pleasure and wee heirby authorize and Require yow that yow give orders for disbanding the Two Troops added to that our Regiment of Dragoons now commanded by the Lord Jedburghs, when the same was ordered for Flanders And that yow cause secure their armes to be Laid up in our Magazines and dispose of ther horses as yow have been in use to doe upon the like occasions. For doing wherof this shall be your warrant. So wee bidd yow heartily Farewell. Given att our Court at Kensingtoun the 17th day of March 1697/8 and of our Reign the 9th year By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur James Ogilvie.
