Letter from the King admitting Lord President of Session a privy Councellour

A Letter from his Majestie To the Councill Requireing them to Receave Mr Hugh Dalrymple president of Session To be a Privy Councellour, Read and ordered to be Recorded, And the said Lord president of session being called in, did swear the oath of alledgance and signed the assurance as is already done by other Councellors, and also signed the associatione And The Lord President of privy Councill having administrat the oath de fideli to him he was receaved a privy Councellor Conform to his Majesties Letter and Took his place att the Board accordingly. Follows the tenor of said Letter:
Sic suprascribitur William Rex
Right Trusty and Right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor, Right trusty and Entirely beloved Cousin and Councellour, Right trusty And Right well beloved Cousins and Councellours, Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellours, Right trusty and welbeloved Councellors. Wee greet yow well. Wheras In Consideration of the Loyalty and Eminent abilities of our Right Trusty and wellbeloved Mr Hugh Dalrymple of North Berwick President of the Colledge of Justice of that our ancient Kingdom, Wee have Thought fitt to add him to our privy Councill there, These are Therfore to authorise and Require yow To admitt and Receave him into that our privy Councill in the ordinary form and manner in the like caices accustomed for doing whereof this shall be your warrant, So wee bid yow heartily farewell Given att our Court at Kensingtoun the 17th of March 1697/8 and of our Reign the 9th year. By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur James Ogilvie.
