Act for Contribution to the Inhabitants of Burned lands in the parliament Closs

The Lords of his Majesties privie Councill haveing heard and considered a petition given in to them by such of the Inhabitants duelling in the tenements which were lately bwrnt in the parliament Closs Meall Mercat Kirkhewgh and places therabout now reduced to great povertie and almost made beggars by the said burneing The Councill alloues a voluntar Contributione to be made by the elders and Deacons within the severall paroches att the house dores of the severall Inhabitants within the toun of Edinburgh and Liberties therof And appoyntes the mony which shall be Collected to be putt into the hands of Thomas Fisher Theasurer to Heriots hospitall And to be destribute amongst the petitioners in the said burnt land att the sight of the Magistrats and Ministers of Edinburgh according to their severall losses and necessitites And appoynts Intimation to be made heirof from the pulpits in the severall Churches within the said Citie of Edinburgh Liberties and priviledges therof To the effect the Inhabitants may be informed therof And that upon sabath day nixt Immediatly after the forenoons sermon
