Act Mrs Thomson and Auchmouty
Anent the Petition given in to the Lords of His majestys privy Councill by Mr John Thomson and Charles Auchmouty prisoners in the tolbooth of Edinburgh Shewing That Wheras their petitioners are under the misfortune of being Indited for Treason by Sir James Stewart, His Majesties Advocat for the reasons alledged in the Said Inditement, and Lawiers being refractory to appear or plead for them without a warrant from their Lordships for So doing, And Therfore Humbly Craving to the Effect underwrittin as the said petition bears. The Lords of His majestys privy Councill Having considered the above petition given in to them by Mr John Thomson and Charles Auchmouty, They do heirby allow and grant warrant ot Such Advocats as the petitioners shall think fitt to Employ to appear and debate for them in the above Indictment of Treason raised against them at the Lord Advocats Instance.
