Warrant

Warrant, for taking off the Chaynes of the Netherbow port and for Shutting up the Same

The present Lord Provost of Edinburgh having Represented That the port of the Netherbow of Edinburgh hes been Chained and not closed Since the late Tumult in June last, and that the Samen was done by order of Councill dated the Twenty one day of June, one Thousand Seven Hundered and one and That there was ane Guard attended at the said port since the Chaining up therof, and that now the said Guard is Removed by order of his Majesties Commissioner before he took Journey for London And Therfore Craved That the Chains might be taken off from the said Port of Neitherbow, and that the samen might be ordained to be That each night as formerly it was wont to be which desire the saids Lords thought Reasonable, and Therfore have ordained and heirby ordains the Chaynes to be taken off the said Netherbow port, and the said port to be left open or closed as it was wont to be formerly, For which this shall be to the magistrats of Edinburgh and all Concerned a Sufficient warrant.
