Letter from the King to the Councill for Recruiting some Regiments
The Letter underwritten from the King to the Councill, being Read was ordered to be Recorded, whereof the tenor Follows.
Sic Supra Scribitur William Rex
Right Trusty and right entirely beloved Cousin and Councellor, Right Trusty and right welbeloved Cousin and Councellors, Right Trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellors. Right Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, We greet yow well. Wheras by our other Letter to yow of the date heirof, wee have ordered a draught of Four Hundred and Fifty men for the Regiments wee have thought Fitt to send into Holland, And it being for our Service in this Juncture That the Regiments out of which the said draught is taken, should be Completed by new Levies conform to their present Establishment Yow are therfore without delay to give the necessary orders to our Commander in cheif for compleating these Regiments, And for that End yow are to allow the officers to beat drums for raising men, And take such methods as are usual and consistent with Law, So that all abuses may be prevented, and what money may be necessary for making the saids Levies, We Shall take care, that the officers be Furnished therwith in good tyme, And So we bid yow heartily Farewell, Given at our Court at Kensington, the Eighteinth day of February 1700/1, And of our Reign the i2th year.
