Procedure

Report anent the Highland Companies and approbation therof

The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill haveing Considered the report of a Committie of their own number anent the two Highland Companies Bearing the Committie haveing Considered the remitt of Councill with his Majesties Letter It is their oppinion That it Should be ordered to the Captains to Compleat their Companies betwixt and the Twenty of August instant and that the Captains Should be Recommended to the Lords of Thesaury to appoint them full pay for their Saids Companies from the first of August instant inclusive they haveing their Companies Compleat and mustered for the South district at Creiff, and for the North District at Inverness betwixt and the said day and that the saids Captains Should² attend the Commissioners of Justiciary in their respective districts at their first meettings in September and their to receive the oppinion of the said Commissioners what posts they should take up and how they should behave themselves for the Security of the peace and good order of the Countrey and Comply ther with; In the mean tyme untill the matter be reported to the Lords of privy Councill in September nixt for their approbation with Such alterationes as the Lords Shall think fitt And by full pay the Committie understands That they should be payed as Brigadeer Maitlands Regiment at Fort-William As the report bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Have approven and hereby Approves of the said report; And Orders and Recommends as therin.
