Act and Recommendation To the thesaurie In favors of the Toun of Bamff

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill by the Town Thesaurer Magistrats and Town Councill of the Burgh of Bamff Shewing That wher ther was ane testificat to ane accompt of Depursments made by the petitioners Subscrybed by the Earle of Findlater and other Commissioners of Supplie within the Shyre of Bamff Bearing that the petitioners hade been at Six hundred and thrie pound four shilling of expences in keeping ane extraordinary watch on severall Egyptians therin named Committed to their tolbooth by a Mittamus from the Viscount of Seafeild Shirriff principall of the Shyre; This was a publict Service tending to the great advantadge and Security of his Majesties Leidges for these profligate vagabounds Did Sorne all round the Countrey both South and North; Wheras now; Some of the Cheiff heads of that pestiferous Crew being Laid aside their followers might come to disperse But the petitioners were altogither unable to hold up under the forsaid expences for their tounes Common good was nothing and if they were not releived therof the present magistrats would demitt nor would ther be found any to Succeed them for fear of execution for debts And Therfore Humbly Supplicating the Saids Lords 2 according to the Shirrif principalls desyre Lay their caise before the saids Lords and the Saids Lords hade been in use to provide for the reimbursment of other burghs In caices wherto the petitioners might much more then pretend to be a paraleell In favor particularly in a caice of the burgh of Pearth And Therfore Humbly Craveing the Saids Lords to the aftermentioned The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered the above petition given in to them by the above Town Thesaurer and toune Councill of Bamff They hereby Recommend to the Lords Commissioners of his Majesties thesaury To allow to the petitioners the Accompt of expensses produced for keeping the above extraordinary watches in the toune of Bamff upon Severall Egyptians Committed prisoners in their Tolbooth
