Proclamation

[Proclamation for adjourning Parliament]

The following Proclamation for Adjourning the Parliament Being Immediately prepaired was Read and Signed, and ordered to be printed published and Recorded whereof the tenor follows
William by the grace of God King of great Brittain France and Ireland defender of the faith, To our Lyon King at arms and his Brethren heraulds macers of our privy Councill pursevants, Messengers at arms, Our Sheriffs in that pairt Conjunctly and Severally Specially constitute greeting, Forasmuchas by the last act of the Last Session of this our Current parliament, The Same was adjourned to the sixth day of May then next to come now Instant. And Wheras the present State of our affairs, doth not Require the meeting of our said Parliament, So soon as the said day to which the same was adjourned, and that the Members of our said parliament may not be put to unnecessary trouble and Charge, Therfore Wee with advice of the Lords of our Privy Councill, do heirby Continue the adjournment of our said parliament from the said sixth day of May Instant to the Seventh day of august next to come, And Wee with advice forsaid do heirby Require all the members of our said parliament to attend att Edinburgh The said Seventh day of August in the usuall way, and under the Certifications Contained in the severall acts of parliament made thereanent. Our Will is Herefore, And Wee Charge yow Strictly and Command That Incontinent these our Letters seen, yes pass to the mercat Cross of Edinburgh, and to the mercat Crosses within this our ancient Kingdom of the severall Shyres and Stewarties within his our ancient Kingdom And there by open proclamation make Intimation, That our said parliament is adjourned to the said Seventh day of August next to come, and ordains these presents to be printed, Given under our Signet at Edinburgh The Third day of May, and of our Reign the thirteenth year 1701 Sic Subscribitur.
