Letter from the King to the Councill anent Some Regiments to go for Holland
The Letter underwritten from the King to the Commissioner Chancellor and the rest of the Lords and others of His Majesties Privy Councill Being Read was ordered to be Recorded whereof the tenor follows.

Right trusty and Right Entirely beloved Cousin and Councellor, Right trusty and Right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor, Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, Wee greet yow Well, Wheras Wee have Judged it for our service to Send into Holland our Three Regiments commanded by the Lord Portmore, The Lord Strathnaver and Colonel George Hamiltoun, and that the same should be augmented to the number of Twelve Companys each Regiment, and of Fifty Sentinels each Company, and our Service Requireing all possible dispatch in compleating the saids Regiments, Yow are to give orders to the Commander in Cheiff of our forces to make a draught of Four Hundered and fifty good and Sufficient men to be divided Equally amongst the three Regiments to be transported, That is out of Each of the Regiments commanded by Colonell Row, Brigadier Maitland and Colonel Ferguson one Hundred and Fifty men, And Wee Expect the saids Regiments of the Lord Portmore The Lord Strathnaver and Colonel Hamilton should be in a Readiness to Embark against the Twelfth day of March next and what the forsaid draughts want of Compleating these Regiments, yow are to order to be levied with all diligence by officers to be Levyed with all diligence by officers to be left behind of each Regiment. And for that End yow are to allow them to beat drums for Raising men and to take all other methods legall and usual in such occasions in which we Expect yow will give them all due Encouragement and assistance And So wee bid yow heartily farewell, Given at our Court at Kensignton the Eighteenth day of February i700/1 And of our Reign the 12th year.
