Act In Favors of Samvell McClelland

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill be Samvell McClelland Chamberland of Orkney and Zetland. Shewing That wher the petitioner hade the saids Lords Commission of Stewartrie for the preceeding year wherin the petitioner was appointed Chamberland by the Lords of Thesaury; and that it is needfull for his ingathering of his Majesties outstanding rests in these parts that his power of Stewartrie be Continued ay and while a new Stewart be named and enter to the exercise of the Jurisdiction It being otherwayes Impossible that he could oblidge the vassals and tennents to pay ther rents And Therfore Humbly Craveing in maner and to the effect aftermentioned As the said petition bears The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill haveing Considered this petition given in to them be the above Samvell McClelland And that ther had been a former Commission granted to him of the date the Tenth day of August Jaj vic Nyntie Seven years They hereby appoint and Authorize the petitioner to be Stewart of Orknay and Zetland ay and whill Some other person be Nominat and authorized for that effect with power to him or his deputes for whom he is to be answerable To Sitt fence and hold Courts and to administrat Justice in all Civill Causses and to doe every other thing relateing to that office; Sicklyke and alse fully in all respects as any former Stewart Did or might have Lawfullie done in the Like caices, And the Saids Lords Declares this present Commission is only to continue and endure untill Some other person be named and authorized for exerceing the same and no longer.
