Act of Banishment Jonet Cook
The Lord Advocat having acquainted his majesties Commissioner and Lords of privy Councill That there is one Janet Cook prisoner in the Tolbooth of Leith for adulterie and incest against whom probatione cannot be found and that the said Lords Commissioners of Justiciarie desyred him to acquaint the said Lords of privie Councill That it is there opinione she might be banished the Kingdome and that the said Janet hes consented to her Banishment conforme to a consent instantly given in to his Majesties Advocat to the Clerks of privie Councill The said Lords of privy Councill in respect of the said Consent have banished and Hereby banisheth the said Jonet Cook furth of this Kingdome and appoynts her to depairt furth of the same betwixt and the first day of July next and Discharges her to returne within the same under the highest pains and penalties that can be inflicted and doe hereby give ordor and warrand to the magistrats of Edinburgh or Leith and keepers of ther Tolbooths to set her at Libertie furth therof in ordor to her said banishment and appoynts the said Janet Cook her Consent to her banishment as said is to remaine in the hands of the Clerks of privie Councill.
