Act John Gulespie merchant in Glasgow
Anent a petition given in to the Lords of their Majesties privy Councill be John Gullespie merchant in Glasgow Shewing That quher the petitioner being apprehended and incarcerat be the magistrats of Ranfrew in ther Tolbooth upon the nynteinth day of October Last by past for alledged killing of the deceast James Meinzies major to the Lord Lindsayes regiment and therupon the saids Lords haveing Recomended to the shiref of Ranfrew or his deputs to transport the petitioner prisoner from thence to the Tolbooth of Edinburgh to the intent that the petitioner might byde his tryall theranent The saids Lords were pleased to ordaine the petitioner to find suficient Cautione under the penalty of Twentie thousand merks that the petitioner should be a secure prisoner to the said shireff in his way to Edinburgh, and true it is that the petitioner did give the forsaid bond and Cautione in the termes of the forsaid act Which is now suficiently full filled haveing undergone his tryall anent the forsaid alledged Cryme being remitted to the knowledge of ane inquest and accordingly assoylzied by the Lords of Justiciary In respect of the petitioners Innocence, yet the Clerks of Councill refusses to give up the said bond without the saids Lords warrands In Respect of his having given recept therfore to the said shirreff who reported the same to him Conforme to the saids Lords act And Therfore Humbly suplimenting the saids Lords to the effect aftermentioned in The Lords of his majesties privy Councill haveing Considered this petition given in to them be the above John Gullespie They heirby Give order and warrand to their Clerks of privy Councill to delyver up the petitioner the above2 bond.
