At Edinburgh the thretteen day of December Jaj vjc nynty and fyve years

[Recommendation anent James Clark, ingraver to the Mint]

Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his majesties privy Councill by James Clark Ingraver to his majesties mint Shewing that where the puncheons and dyes etc. for the mint never were made in Scotland till of late that the petitioner was imployed theranent by a warrand under his Majesties Hand but the same was alwayes done in England and the one half of the Charges and expences was still payed in hand at undertakeing the work and the other Half at the Compleating thereof. And now the said petitioner Haveing perfectly finished the whole work in less then ane year which used to take noe Less then tuo or three years when done in England and coast the generall and master of the Mint great attendance and much expenses yet the said petitioner hes not as yet had the Least encouragement or received one farthing for his work And therfore Humbly craveing in maner and to the effect aftermentioned as the said petitione bears The Lords of his majesties privie Councill Haveing considered the foresaid petition given in to them by the said James Clark with his Majesties warrand under his Royall Hand and Countersigned by the secretary of state in favors of the said petitioner They Hereby Recomend to the Lords Commissioners of his Majesties Thesaurie To cause make payment to the said petitioner of the sum of two Hundred pound sterline money for ingraveing and finisheing all puncheons Counter puncheons matuces and dyes for the silver coyne of this Kingdome conforme to his Majesties warrand for that effect already produced to the Councill and to he produced to the said Lords Commissioners
