Letter from the King to the Councill approving the nominating the Earle of Annandale to be their president

The following letter being read in Councill was ordered to be recorded whereof the tenor followeth sic suprascribitur William Rex Right trustie and right weill beloved Cousin and councillor Right trusty and intirely beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trusty and right wel beloved Cousins and Councillors and trusty and welbeloved Councillors We greet you well whereas upon your nominateing our right trusty and welbeloved William Earle of Annandale to preside in our Councill we did apprehend That their might be a poynt of pretensione of right in the Case and did therfore delay to approve of the said nominatione till we should be further informed and that we have now had the said informatione and are satisfied that you have proceeded according to your Commissione and the usuall methods of Councill in the lyke Caises we doe therfore approve of your said nomination and appoynt the said William Earle of Annandale to continue to preside dureing the Chancellors absence or Till our further pleasure and so we bid you heartily farewell Given at our Court at Kensingtone the 12th day of Januarie 1695 and of our Reigne the 6th year By his majesties Command sic subscribitur J Johnstoune
