Act Killmaranock Tennents
Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his majesties privy Councill be William Cochran of Killmaronock and Johns Galbraiths elder and younger John Mckean James Henry and William Mckaulay his tenents Shewing That the saids tenents having been once souldiers in his majesties service and all of them haveing procured passes from ther officers quherof thrie are from William Buchanan of Craigivairne ther major ane other from major Generall Mckay and the fifth from the Earle of Argyll his Collonoll and from one of his Captaines and all of them expressly bears that they have furnished other men in their stead, and albeit these passes are suficient to Exoner the poor man, yet Because severall Disorders hapen in apprehending of Deserts and differences betwixt the officers of the army and the Country The petitioners have applyed to the saids Lords for a full securitie to the poor man And Therfore Humbly Craveing the saids Lords would be pleased to interpose ther authoritie to the passes produced and Discharge the officers of the Army and any others from troubling The petitioners as the said petition bears The Lords of his Majestie privy Councill haveing Considered this petition given in to them be the above Killmaronock and his tennents with the report of a Committie to whom the Consideration of the petitione was Remitted, They heirby approve of the report, Bearing that the petitioners have when they left the regiment furnished sufficient men in their places, Which the Comittie have seen suficiently instructed And the saids Lords Declairs the petitioners to be free and Discharges any officers or others whatsomever to trouble or mollest them as deserters in time comeing.
