Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of Privie Councill by Charles Earle of Home Shewing That where the said petitioner haveing been confyned to his house and two myles about it by the said Lords their ordor now of a long tyme and which he so exactly observed That upon noe account he would goe that lenth in the2 shyre where he liv’s even in prosecutione of his most urgent affaires where he was not evidentlie within his Confynement whereby much of his business both at Aytoune and Eymouth is gone into absolute Confusione and cannot shun to be irrecoverable especiallie by the death of John Weild at Eymouth to whom his business there was intrusted unless the said Lords would allow Him farder freedome and therfore Humbly Craveing in maner and to the effect aftermentioned as the said petitione bears
The Lords of his majesties privy Councill haveing considered the foresaid petitione given in to them by the said Charles Earle of Home They Hereby Grant Libertie to the said Earle To goe about his affairs at any place within the shyre of Berwick upon this syde of the water of Tweed In respect the said Earle hes given bond and found sufficient Cautione acted in the books of privy Councill That He shall remain confyn’d within that part of the shyre of Berwick quhich is upon this syde of the water of Tweed and not goe without the same under the penalty of two thousand pounds sterline and upon granting a new bond ordains the former bond to be given up And in the meantyme to live peaceablie under and with all submissione to the present Government of his majestie King William and that He shall not act consult nor Converse or Correspond with any Rebells And shall appear before the said Lords qhuen called for under the said penalty in Case He shall transgress in any pairt of the premisses
