Comittie anent a popish meeting

The Lord Advocat haveing reported That ther was a publick popish meeting keept in Cannongate upon the last Lords day Whereupon Master David Fairfoul the Preist James Deanton James Moreis and John Wilsone of Spango were Committed Prisoners to the Cannongate tolbooth and the meeting being dissipat some others were put under baile and the Lord Advocat Haveing given in a list to the Clerks of Councill of the persones who were present at the meeting The Councill give ordor and warrand to the Captain or other commanding officer of the toune guard of Edinburgh To cause convey under a sufficient Guard from the Tolbooth of Canongate to the tolbooth of Edinburgh the persones of the said Master David Fairfoull James Deanton James Mories and John Wilsone there to remaine till farder ordor and appoynts the magistrats of the Cannongate to delyver them and the magistrats of Edinburgh to receive them And recomends to the Earle of Melvill Lord privie seale the Earle of Leven and Murray Lord Carmichaell and the Laird of Grant to examine this matter and to call for such of the persones in the List given in by his Majesties Advocat as they shall think fitt With power to the Comittee To committ such of them prisioners as they shall find just and to report their oppinione in this matter to the Councill three a quorum to meet tomorrow at ten in the forenoone
