Act the synod of Argyll

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his majesties privy Councill be the Synod of Argyll Shewing That quher his majestie had been graciously pleased as a mark of his Royall favor to bestow upon the said synod the rents of the two Bishopricks of Argyll and Isles for erecting of English schoolls building and repairing of Churches and other pious uses within the said synod and because the greatest part of the saids bounds are in accessible and very refractory In payment of the saids rents to the Chamberlands and factors therof Wherby all legall execution and Dilligence are rendered in effectuall and his majesties Gracious intention disappointed and the petitioners having offered ane act to his majesties high Comissioner and honoraball estates of parliament Craving that military ascestance might be given to the Chamberlands and the factors allready appointed or to be appointed to quarter for the saids rents open such as should delay to pay in due time or to be assistant to the poynding and Captione to be used for the saids rents and to appoint the Commissioner in Cheif to order the said assistance and that it should be used upon the Chargers of these Lyable in payment upon reading of which act his majesties high Commissioner and estates and parliament did Recomend to ther Lordships to fall upon such methods as might make the payment of the above rents effectuall upon the Chargers of the persones Lyable in payment as the extract of the forsaid Recomendatione of parliament bears And Therfore Humbly supplicating to the effect aftermentioned The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill having Considered this petition given in to them be the above synod of Argyll with the extract of the Recomendatione of parliament mentioned therin and produced therwith They heirby Recomend to and2 Requyre the Comander in Cheif of ther majesties forces within this kingdome or the Governor of Inverlochie from time to time to Grant parties for assisting the Collectors allready apointed or to be appointed for ingathering of the saids rents by poynding and Caption The sentance of a Judge allwayes preceiding the same, and that upon the Charges and expenses of these Lyable in payment.
