The Church and pulpits ordered to be put in Mourning

The Councill sent there majesties Sollicitor attending at the Councill board To the towne Councill of Edinburgh To the magistrats of Edinburgh mett there expreslie upon this occasione To acquaint them That it is the Councils pleasure That the pulpits and Churches be put in such a dress as hes been usuall at the greatest solemn expressions of mourneing for the death of any of their majesties Predicessors Kings or Queens of this Realme who returned accompt to the Lords of his majesties Privy Councill That he had delyvered the Councils commands to the magistrats who were much greived for the occasione and promised all readie obedience and Declared they had all things prepared and in readiness for that effect
