Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of their Majesties privie Councell By Alexander Taite skipper in Leith Sheuing That wher the petitioner was Imprisoned in the tolbooth of Edinburgh upon the seventh day of Apryle last by order of their Majesties Advocat and hes ever since Continoued Closs prisoner And hes Lived all the tyme very meanly For it is publictly knouen to all the Inhabitants of Leith That he is poor and Indigent and hes nothing wherupon to mantain himself And therfore Humblie Craving their Lordships to Commisserat the petitioners Condition And Remitt him to be examined by the Lord Advocat And to order the magistrats and Keeper of the tolbooth of Edinburgh to sett him att Libertie upon his Inacting himself to Compear and ansuer when Called or other wayes to appoint ane aliment to be payed to him for his subsistance during his Imprisonment as the said petition bears The Saids Lords of their Majesties privie Councell Having Considered the above petitione They heirby Give order and warrand to the magistrats of Edinburgh and Keeper of their tolbooth To allow the petitioner the benefite of open prisone The saids magistrats and Keeper being aluayes ansuerable for his safe Custody
