Warrant
Warrand for transporting John Trotter to Castletoun to be executed there
The Lords of their Majesties privie Councill Considering That John Trotter prisoner in the tolbooth of Edinburgh is by sentence of the Lords Commissioners of Justiciary sentenced to death for treasone and appointed to be hanged to death upon a Gybbett or Gallous at the Croce of Edinburgh upon the tuenty Eight day of March instant They heirby Change the place of executione from the Croce of Edinburgh to the toune of Castletoune And Recommends to Sir Thomas Livingstoune Commander in cheiff of their Majesties forces uithin this Kingdome To Cause transport under a sufficient guaird of horse or dragoons from the tolbooth of Edinburgh to the toune of Castletoune the persone of the said John Trotter And appointes the Magistrats of Edinburgh and Keeper of their tolbooth to delyver the prisoner to the said guaird And the Guaird to delyver him to the shirref principall or his deputes uithin the shire of Haddingtoune And appoints the said shirreff and his deputes to see the said sentence putt in executione against the said John Trotter upon the precise day forsaid at the said toune of Castletoune upon a Gibbett or Galloues formerly ordered by the Councill to be putt up and affixed in Castletoune at the place best seen by the rebells in the Bass And Recommends to Sir Thomas Livingstoune not to transport the prisoner till the said day of executione And appoints the said shirreff and his deputes to see him execute the said day
