Att Edinburgh the sixth day of July Jaj vic nyntie four years

proclamation Anent the polemoney

The Follouing proclamation being read was votted approven and signed and appointed to be recorded wherof the tenor folloues
William by the Grace of God King of Great Brittaine France and Ireland Defender of the faith To […] Macers of our privie Councell messengers at arms our shirreffs in that part Conjunctlly and severallie speciallie Constitut Greeting Forasmuchas by the nynth act of the fourth session of this our Current parliament The Estates of parliament Have freely and Cheerfullie offered the pole money therin specified To be Imployed For the ends and uses exprest in the said Act and the Commissioners of Assessment or their quorum and the magistrats of burghs royall are ordained to meet and Conveen upon the dayes and to the ends particularly therin mentioned As also the Lords of our privie Councell are Impoured to order and appoint such further methods and Courses (besyds these by the Act appointed) as they shall Judge fitt for stating and Inbringing of the said pole money And wee Considering that the pole money offered by the said Act may be most effectuallie and profitablie raised and Levied by way of publick Roup In favoures of the persons who shall offer most for the same Therfore we uith advyce of the Lords of our privie Councell Doe heirby ordaine publick Intimation to be made to all our Leidges that the pole money in the above act mentioned Is to be publictly rouped by the Lords of our Thesaury and Exchequer uithin our Exchequer house at Edinburgh upon the tuenty fifth day of July instant betuixt three and five hours in the Afternoon And that who shall bid most for the same shall be preferred and have Commission or right Granted to them for uplifting and Collecting therof In the termes appointed by the Act of parliament As also that the articles and Conditions of the said roup are Lying in the hands of the Clerks of our Thesaury and Exchequer To be seen by all Concerned And further we uith advyce Forsaid Doe heirby perremptorly requyre and Comand the Commissioners of supplie and magistrats of burghs uithin their respective bounds to meet Conveen Act proceed and doe in the said matter of the polemoney as by the said Act of parliament is appointed And to returne Lists and rolls to our Thesaury in the termes and betuixt and the tyme particularly therin specified Our will is heirfore And ue Charge yow strictly and Command That Incontinent these our Letters seen ye pass to the mercat Cross of Edinburgh and to the mercat Crosses of the head burghs of the severall shires of this kingdome and ther In our name and authority by open proclamatione make publick Intimatione of the premisses That none pretend ignorance And ordaines these presents to be printed Given under our signet at Edinburgh the sixth day of July and of our reigne the sixth year 1694 sic subscribitur as in the sederunt except Blackbarrony uith addition of Forfar Stair and Anstruther
