Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of their Majesties privie Councell By John Mcclauchlane prisoner in Edinburgh tolbooth Sheuing That wher the petitioner Having Continoued in the prisons of Glasgow Cannongate and Edinburgh these nynteen weeks bygone by their Lordships order And Having suffered the punishment Inflicted upon him by their Lordships He is heartily sorrie that he hes done any thing should have offended their Lordships so that the petitioner and his poor wyfe are redacted to great misirie He not having wheruith to preserve himself from starving Farr Less to mantaine his poor wyfe and Children He being unable of his arms and becoming valitudinary and tender by his Long Imprisonment In all probability a very short tyme uill putt a period to his bad and miserable Condition unless the samen be prevented by their Lordships Compassione And therfore Humblie Craving to the effect underwryten as the said petition Bears The saids Lords of their Majesties privie Councell Having Considered the above petition They heirby Give order and warrand to the Magistrats of Edinburgh and Keeper of their tolbooth To sett the petitioner at Libertie Furth therof In respect that the petitioner Hath inacted himself in the books of privie Councell That he shall Live peacably under and with all submission to the present Government of their Majesties King William and Queen Mary And that he shall not Act Consult nor Contryve any thing In prejudice therof nor Converss or Correspond uith any rebells under the penaltie of fyve hundred merks scotts money
